THE TRANSPORT INDUSTRY IS ALWAYS ON THE MOVE.

The landscape is always changing, both on the road and in business – digitisation, electromobility and Industry 4.0 are not only radically transforming the transport sector, but also calling for a change of mindset. BPW is taking its employees on a journey into the future and enabling them to fulfil their true potential. It nurtures their personal skills and offers long-term development opportunities throughout the Group by way of seminars, workshops, e-learning courses, and its own talent programme. Those who are looking for a new direction, for example, can spend time in other parts of the business.

“We don’t prescribe a career path for anyone, but much prefer employees to identify their own strengths,”

says chief HR development officer Sabine Pflichtenhöfer. “We help our people to develop their skills. Those who take on duties that suit their per sonal profile generally enjoy their work and do the job well.”

People enjoy working for BPW and remain loyal to the company. Their careers are accompanied by a sense of belonging, mutual trust and social responsibility – cornerstones of the corporate culture – as corroborated by regular employee surveys and awards ranking BPW among the best employers and training companies in Germany.

KATHARINA KERMELK (30), PRODUCT MANAGER

“I have been developing my skills continuously since joining BPW. After training as an industrial mechanic and studying mechanic al engineering with mechatronics, I was initially engaged in the application of metrology in testing. I joined the product management team in 2012 and, while still working for the company, have since completed a master’s degree in engineering management. Now I’m dealing with sensor systems in commercial vehicles, which is an exciting field in view of the increasing digitisation and interconnectivity of the transport industry. Sensors bring additional intelligence and efficiency not only to vehicles, but also throughout the logistics chain. I would like to continue working at the interface between technology and sales because I enjoy being in touch with the market and talking to customers – and also because of my technical background.”

LEVENTE NÉMETH (28), TYPE CONTROLLER FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLE STEERING AXLES AT BPW-HUNGÁRIA KFT

“I’ve been a member of the BPW-Hungária team for five years. After studying mechanical and vehicle engineering, l joined the design department and served as a liaison engineer, overseeing the migration of commercial vehicle steering axle design from BPW HQ in Wiehl to Hungary – it was a long-term project and an exciting challenge. I still visit Wiehl regularly and really enjoy the international collaboration. In 2016 I also won a place on the company’s demanding two-year talent programme, which encompassed workshops, personal development coaching, visits to subsidiaries, and leading a project. I can’t speak highly enough about the team spirit, opportunities for personal advancement, and constructive dialogue with senior management during this period.”

DAVID HUPERZ (36), TEAM LEADER FOR IT PROCESSES & DATA

“I got to know BPW while pursuing a combined course of study. I enrolled to study business information systems in 2002 and took advantage of the company’s student assistance programme. As an IT specialist, I began by learning from scratch in application development. I wrote my finalyear thesis while working in design and dev elopment, which was one of the best experiences I had. My project proposal was adopted and, at the age of 23, I was given responsibility for its implementation. As a founding member of the BPW Innovation Lab, from the end of 2016 I started to take a close interest in the internet of transport, which entails digitisation of the entire transport process. Being involved in establishing a new business model in a start-up belonging to the company was quite extraordinary. As team leader for IT processes & data, where we implement major IT projects locally for BPW and, to a growing extent, for the whole of the Group, I now have the opportunity to apply the recently acquired experience and methods.”
