How can a sense of duty be cultivated?

AS A FAMILY ENTERPRISE, BPW HAS BEEN PUTTING SUSTAINABILITY INTO PRACTICE FOR GENERATIONS.

The values associated with adopting a long-term per spective are reflected not only in its strategies, products and services, but also in the management and corporate cultures. BPW Group understands that the future will be shaped not only by technology, but also by attitudes. For this reason it consciously nurtures an appropriate mindset and pursues continuous development. There are numerous initiatives to support employees’ well-being, from training sessions and an age-related working environment to striking a balance between work and family life. Our participation in the United Nations Global Compact bear s further witness to our commitment to man and the environment, and shines a light on our quest to conserve resources, offer safe and humane working conditions, and conduct business in a responsible manner.

Green Energy

BPW GENERATES ELECTRICITY FROM SOLAR ENERGY AND HYDROPOWER – ITS BRÜCHERMÜHLE FACILITY RECENTLY JOINED THE INITIATIVE.

BPW has switched to procuring all of its electricity from renewables. It even generates a portion of the electricity it consumes with its own hydropower turbine and solar panels. In mid-2018 the Brüchermühle facility followed the lead of headquarters in Wiehl by installing a rooftop photovoltaic system. Its 350-kW capacity provides sufficient output for the factory’s primary needs. The solar panels are a highly visible indicator of BPW’s commitment to its facilities, a long-term approach, sustainability, and entrepreneurial responsibility.

More energy: At its Brüchermühle works, BPW has commissioned a second photovoltaic system.

BPW PROVIDES A GYM TO HELPS ITS EMPLOYEES IN WIEHL TAKE EXERCISE AND LOOK AFTER THEIR HEALTH.

Regular exercise prevents sickness and keeps the body and mind agile and fit. With its own fitness studio in Wiehl, BPW enables its employees to build resistance and strength, maintain good health, and unwind by working out. Professional coaches are on hand to produce personal training schedules tailored to the needs, wishes or medical conditions of users. In view of its proximity to the workplace, employees can easily integrate visits to the gym into their everyday routines.

Emblematic support

EMPLOYEES OF BPW-HUNGÁRIA MARKED EARTH DAY 2018 WITH A BIKE RIDE.

Every year on 22 April, Earth Day is celebrated in more than 175 countries in recognition of the debt we owe the natural environment. In the Hungarian city of Szombathely, where BPW-Hungária has its factory, an Earth Day bicycle tour is organised and supported by several major local businesses, including the BPW subsidiary. The 100 or so cyclists who took part in this year’s ride visited the headquarters of the event’s initiators and, as an emblem of commitment to environmental protection and sustainable working practices, planted a tree at each of their sites.

Greater engagement: Employees of BPW-Hungária planted four trees during a bike ride to mark Earth Day.

Zero-emission shuttle

More pulling power: One of two allelectric tractor units operating a zeroemission shuttle service on BPW’s premises.
Rethink now for a better tomorrow

BPW AVOIDS CO2 EMISSIONS OF AROUND 28 TONNES A YEAR BY OPERATING TWO ALL-ELECTRIC VEHICLES ON ITS PREMISES.

Two all-electric tractor units built by Terberg operate a works shuttle service in Wiehl to move goods between the production buildings and the logistics centre. Very quietly and without producing any emissions, they transport finished axles to the shipping bay before being loaded with unfinished axle assemblies f or the drive back to production. A single diesel-powered Euro 6 tractor would impose an annual burden of more than 14 tonnes of CO2 on the environment. The route is only four kilometres long and therefore ideal for clean electric transport – the engine of a conventional vehicle would not even reach its efficient operating temperature during such a short trip.
